Let’s be real, Mr Minister
Should they do so, they will receive a “notice of the breach of the law, the photo and details of the legal process to deal with the matter.” This notice will be “mailed” to the vehicle owner. Will it be handled by the same postal service that seems to have problems in mail getting to people? Then there is talk of a new number plate system, another hightech idea if you please, with a chip imbedded in the plate, which will have all data on the owner of the vehicle.
This information will be entered on all number plates for all vehicles by, no doubt, the Licensing Office, the same office where it can take a day or two and a packed picnic basket to get a certified copy of ownership.
I seem to recall that the Transport Minister, earlier this year, was also going to issue new driving permits with a strip that would have the driver’s info on it. This is still to happen and the minister may have shelved it.
Mr Minister, let’s be real and deal with the day-to-day problems that drivers encounter and would not require high-tech stuff, only political will, like the removal of PH drivers, properly maintained roads, and a proper speed limit, to name a few.
