Ganja field destroyed

Police reported that at midday officers went to the Belle Vue area where they came across the marijuana field 500 metres from the roadway.

Officers discovered 1,500 fully grown marijuana trees, 100 fully grown trees cut and placed in buckets, 4,000 seedlings and equipment used for cultivation.

All the marijuana trees were destroyed and the equipment seized.

Police believe the marijuana was being grown for local sales. The exercise was coordinated by Snr Supt Boxhill and ASP Ajith Persad.

It was led by Sgt Anthony Williams and included PCs Dyett, Persad, Sookhwah, Meyers and Hoyte.

The exercise ended at 6 pm.
