Webster (172 not out) blazes Parkites into 50 overs final
The right-handed pair led the Parkites to a 232-run win over Powergen in the semifinals at the National Cricket Centre (NCC) in Couva, on Thursday.
Queen’s Park will face Merry Boys in the Premiership One final at NCC from 1.30 pm tomorrow.
Webster, who made his debut for the Trinidad and Tobago Red Force earlier this year, struck a frenetic 172 not out off 132 balls with 15 fours and seven sixes to lead Queen’s Park to a massive 365 for four batting first. Cruickshank belted 108 not out off 74 deliveries which comprised six fours and seven sixes. The fifth wicket partenership between Webster and Cruickshank was worth 220 runs. The best bowler for Powergen was Ancil Bhagan, who took two for 59 in 10 overs.
In reply, Powergen could only muster 133/9 in 27.1 overs as left-arm spinner Kavesh Kantasingh was unable to bat. Jeron Maniram top scored with 40, while Mark Deyal contributed 35. Medium pacer Javon Searles was the top bowler for the Parkites, snatching 5/25 in seven overs, while Khary Pierre (2/7) and Yannic Cariah (2/9) both took two wickets.
In the Premiership Two semifinal, Courts Orangefield defeated Queen’s Park Two by 59 runs at the Munroe Road Recreation Ground. Orangefield posted 162 all out in 33.5 overs, before Queen’s Park were dismissed for 103 in 28.3 overs. Aranguez will play Orangefield in the final at Munroe Road from 1.30 pm tomorrow.
The first day of round six in the Premiership One threeday competition will be played today. Tableland and Queen’s Park will play at Tableland, Alescon Comets and Jailal Enterprise will face off at Pierre Road, Powergen and FC Clarke Road will battle at Syne Village and Merry Boys and Central Sports will play at Brian Lara Recreation.
Round six will conclude on May 20 and 21.
