Yarra Beach evening hike
This picturesque seascape, hypnotised by the serenity of the river, is situated on the North Coast in a concealed location.
Along the beach, rays of light shining through the coconut branches create breathtaking silhouettes.
It is a night for adventure with turtles coming ashore to nest and crabs captivated by the bright light. The water at the river mouth is calm, shallow and provides a safe place for a late evening splash.
The Yarra River acts as a boundary dividing the villages of Blanchisseuse and La Fillette.
Yarra is an Amerindian word which when translated means “ever flowing”. The walk to the beach will take 30 minutes and starts at the Blanchisseuse School to the centre of the community where a village track leads to the beach. A short walk along the coast leads to the river’s mouth.
Please note that the tide may be high and an extra change of clothing and footwear is recommended.
Island Hikers night hike to the Yarra Beach and River’s Mouth takes place on Saturday.
