Consultations on community centres continue

At a forum held on May 16 at the Sangre Grande Civic Centre Gwyneth Morris-Alexander, Deputy Director of the Community Development Division implored stakeholders to think outside the box because their perspectives were integral in the formulation of a new policy and guidelines regarding community centres.

It will also ensure that the ministry is on the right track to facilitate meaningful projects and programmes to the benefit of the communities, said a media release.

Stakeholders attending the forum comprised of 40 organisations, several interest groups, user groups and individuals from Rampanalgas, Guaico Tamana, Cumuto, Matelot, Plum Mitan, San Souci and environs.

The consultations will enhance the community engagement relationship between the Community Development Division and the communities thereby ensuring that the community’s priorities and values continue to shape the services delivered by the Community Development District Offices.

The upcoming dates and venues for the consultations are: • June 6 –St Patrick East & West Districts, 9am -1pm at the South Oropouche Community Centre, Tito Hill, South Oropouche.

• June 13 –Nariva/ Mayaro district, 9am- 1pm at the Boos Community Centre, Corner Hibiscus Arch and Ecclesville Road, quarter- mile mark, Rio Claro, Mayaro Old Road, Mayaro.

• June 20 –St George East District 9am-1pm at Upper El Dorado Community Centre, Caura Royal Road, El Dorado.
