Laventille East MP robbed
At 12.30 pm, someone broke a window of the vehicle and removed a bag containing Leonce’s cellphone, iPad, laptop computer and documents.
The MP discovered the theft after he went to the vehicle to retrieve his cellphone. A report was made to the Morvant police and Inspector Baird along with other officers carried out enquiries and alerted the police Cyber Crime Unit in a bid to trace the cellphone.
A check was also carried out for prints on the vehicle and one and a half hours later someone threw the stolen bag with the documents over the wall of the Minister’s Morvant home. The stolen items were not in the bag. Police were unable to retrieve CCTV footage from the MP’s office but they were yesterday hoping to look at camera footage from the MPs home to ascertain who threw the bag over the wall.
Yesterday, Newsday contacted Leonce who said, “I am disappointed because I have been trying my best to get the young people to be more proactive, I am also trying my best to get the state agencies to give these young people real opportunities, and I feel attacked but it will not stop me from doing what I have to do because up until the day of the robbery a young person told me that I inspire him, and this keeps me going.”
