Jacob told Newsday that Acting Inspector Greene is grateful to be alive and on the mend. Snr Supt Jacob yesterday thanked those police officers who donated blood, 12 pints in total, in quick time to facilitate surgery on Greene to remove the bullet from his leg. Ag Insp Greene was at a Sports and Family Day at the Recreation Ground near Bon Air High School when he was shot at 9.05 pm on Tuesday during a confrontation by Keagan Jones.

Jones was also shot and later died.
