Mohan, Nelson adjudged UWI top sports personalities

The ceremony was staged at the UWI Cave Hill campus in Barbados on May 25.

Mohan, a final year Mechanical Engineering Student with a GPA (grade point average) above 3.0, is the captain of the UWI St Augustine men’s cricket team and vice-captain of the Combined Campuses and Colleges (CCC) Team.

He has led all the youth teams in Trinidad and Tobago, from the Under-13 to the Under-19 level.

Nelson is a first-year student who plays netball, basketball and throws javelin. She took up a scholarship in 2016 after being scouted by the UWI Mona Sports Programme and is currently pursuing a degree in Psychology.

She also plays on the Jamaica netball team, known as the “Sunshine Girls”.

She began playing netball at age 14 and back then also earned a sports scholarship during high school.

The six-feet-four Nelson plays across inter-hall, inter-collegiate and national competitions and she is currently preparing to represent Jamaica at the World Youth Netball Championships.
