Disappointing TT in Ecuador

A trim looking goalkeeper Marvin Phillips was the hero of the night for TT as he saved us from the Ecuador maurauders and a demoralising result. Oh how his body must be hurting from diving.

Again, defensive (individual) errors were associated with two of the three goals.

The first, the Ecuador player kicking around the Trini defender who failed to clear his line, the second, a crunching tackle from behind by the Trinidadian player which resulted in a penalty. The third goal saw the Ecuador forward running through two defenders.

TT ’s lone item was a well taken header by Carlyle Mitchell. Before coach Dennis “Tallest” Lawrence goes bonkers, players need to concentrate on the basics — passing which must be well weighted, getting out of tight spaces, giving the ball to the best positioned player, and letting it fly from inside or outside the box.

I was not satisfied with the officiating, as both teams should have been penalised for fouls. However, Ecuador was the better team on the night.
