TT volleyballers progress to CAZOVA semis
TT showed their dominance by being the only team to qualify for the semi-final round without dropping a set. The top score of 13 points was shared between Channon Thompson (nine spikes, two blocks and two aces), Krystle Esdelle (eight spikes, two blocks and three aces) and Sinead Jack with a game-leading seven blocks. Ludmila Lican top scored for Martinique with 12 points.
Jamaica worked hard to overcome a resilient Suriname 3-1 (25- 21, 23-25, 26-24, 25-20). Tahleia Bishop top scored for the host team with 24 points including 17 spikes.
Eleonoor Hunsel was unstoppable with 36 points including 31 spikes.
Guadeloupe booked a spot in the knockout when they defeated Bahamas 3-0 (25-22, 22-11, 25-19).
Curacao qualified for the quarter- final after narrowly winning against US Virgin Islands 3-2 (25- 15, 32-34, 19-25, 25-21, 15-9). Last evening, in the quarter-final round, Suriname met up with Guadeloupe while Martinique played against Curacao. The winners of thosee matches will face Trinidad and Tobago and Jamaica in the semi-final today.
TT are aiming to win their sixth consecutive CAZOVA title and their seventh overall, surpassing Barbados for most titles won.
