Train III at Atlantic offline after leak found

According to a police report, a gas leak was detected at 10.45 am at Train Three and three contract workers were taken to the Point Fortin Area Hospital where they were being treated for nausea and difficulty breathing.

Two of the three are employed with sub-contractor Scaffolding Manufacturers (Trinidad) Ltd, while the third works with janitorial and cleaning service company Europa.

The facility was subsequently evacuated by all staff members.

In a media release issued by Atlantic LNG Media Communications Officer Billson Hainsley, the company stated that the affected train “remains offline pending repair of a valve associated with the incident.” “All other trains have resumed normal operations,” he stated.

Hainsley noted that during the incident, Atlantic’s safety systems had functioned “according to design and all necessary communication protocols with the Ministry of Energy, the Point Fortin Borough Corporation, the community and other stakeholders were observed.” “Two service provider employees who were in the vicinity of the release were taken to the Point Fortin Area Hospital, where they were treated and discharged. Atlantic takes this opportunity to thank the authorities for their support and assistance during the incident,” he stated.
