Attorney no-show at trial

Joseph is charged with murder, attempted murder and possession of an illegal firearm and ammunition.

When asked if he had an attorney to represent him, Joseph said he was expecting Masaisai to be present but did not know where he was. Earle-Caddle expressed her dissatisfaction with the absence of the defence attorney.

“I set aside today to hear the matter. I was available today at this time but your counsel isn’t ready, so I’m afraid you’re going to have to be remanded into custody until the next available date which I’m seeing is in October.” Prosecuting attorneys told Earle-Caddle notices had been served to Masaisai on three different occasions since the matter began. The matter has been adjourned to October 5.
