West Indies Lawyers beat Bangladesh “B” in World Cup
Batting first, the West Indies lawyers scored 256 runs for four wickets off their allotted 35 overs. Guyanese attorney Charles Ransom scored 116 not out while Trinidadian lawyer Prakash Maharaj got 47. The best bowler for Bangladesh was Abdur Rahman with three wickets for 35 runs.
In response, the Bangladesh lawyers scored 216 for nine, with Rahman hitting 63 and Kishore Kumar 36. Ransom was the best bowler for the West Indies with 6 for 29.
After the match, West Indies captain Shashi Seecharan said he was pleased with the overall performance of the team. He congratulated Ransom on his allround performance, scoring a century and taking six wickets. “It was a very good game for us. We have now won two and lost one and we are looking forward to our next match (today) against India.” The West Indies team comprises lawyers from Trinidad and Tobago, Guyana, Barbados and Antgua and Barbuda.
In related news, the WI squad fell to a massive 106-run defeat to hosts Sri Lanka on Sunday.
Batting first at the Royal College Ground, the Sri Lanka lawyers scored 296 for three off their allotted 35 overs.
The scorers for the host team were A Pataman (74 not out), P Jayasinghe (73 not out), Y Jinmena (56) and K Hetiarachchi (53). The best bowler for the West Indies was Trinidadian lawyer, Krishna Jaglal with 2/37.
In response, the West Indies were only able to score 190 all out. Antiguan lawyer Loy Weste topscored with 89, while Maharaj got 46.
