Man charged for cursing in police station

Yesterday, Miguel Roberts appeared before Magistrate Adrian Darmanie in the Port of Spain Magistrates Court where he pleaded guilty to the disorderly conduct charge but not guilty to the others.

Police said Roberts visited the station on Sunday and began speaking loudly and using obscene language against them.

His attorney Orin Kerr said Roberts was deeply apologetic and said his response was as a result of drinking heavily the night before. Roberts admitted that he was drunk and was unaware of the seriousness of his actions.

“Sir my friends and I were returning from a party when I went to the police station and I was drinking. I had a lot of alcohol in my system and I couldn’t recall the incident until the following day.” He said he was aware alcohol was no excuse for his actions and said he was sorry for the incident.

Darmanie granted Roberts bail with a surety in the sum of $10,000 and fined him $200 for the offence of disorderly conduct.
