Fun at J’Ouvert Wars

J’Ouvert Wars was really a competition involving fun games such as balloon toss, slip and slide, trigger song and wrestling.

The event was hosted as a way of uniting all of the different J’Ouvert bands, according to a committee member.

This goal was successfully executed bringing masqueraders from seven bands together for the event which began at 5 pm and ended at around 8 pm. The winning J’Ouvert band, Icebox, which came from New York competed against Red Ants, Vibez Jouvert, Caesar’s Army, Jouvert Jumbeez, Mad Jouvert and D’ Cocoa Crew.

Describing the event as “way better than actual J’Ouvert” one participant said: “It was nice that all the bands could collide and have a paint war.” After the competition ended, the music and messy fun continued with water guns filled with paint and buckets for drenching fellow patrons with paint. Although the event ended at 1 am, the clean-up for many people, lasted hours into the following day.
