Indian Cricket League T20 bowls off today in Bamboo

The matches are hosted through a collaboration of the Indian High Commission and the Forum of Indian Nationals in Trinidad and Tobago (FINTT), who unite this year under the theme of “inspiring the Indian community to move forward to a safe and secure future.” The initiative comes on the cusp of India’s 71st Independence celebrations .

“Our goal is to create an awareness in the Indian Community about the importance of oneness without the barriers of caste or creed, aiming at the future generations with respect to the current situations. In (the) Caribbean, the best way to communicate this message is sports, where all gather together for one aim,” says Event Coordinator Prasanth Ramanpillai .

The championship consists of four teams: Hetero Drugs Limited Knight Riders, The Grand Buffet United Kings, Poonam Industries Star Smashers and Indian Stuff Ltd’s Incredible Indians .

The matches take will take place from August 26-30 .

The closing ceremony will take place on September 2 at 6pm. The High Commissioner of India to Trinidad and Tobago, Bishwadip Dey, will be present, as well as other known persons in the local Indian community .
