Mom stabbed to death while trying to stop fight involving daughter

Police said Tabatha Richards, 44, of Sixth Avenue, Malick was outside her home with her daughter, Missy, 18 at about midnight on Monday. Missy got into an argument with the 17-year-old neighbour and as the argument intensified, the girl grabbed a knife and began stabbing Missy. Richards tried to intervene but was stabbed several times.

Neighbours separated the girls and the wounded girl and her mother were taken to the Port of Spain hospital.

Richards died shortly after arrival. Her daughter is in serious condition. Police have since detained the suspect.
