Only negatives from QPCC
THE EDITOR: Mr Rodriguez seems to have a bee in his bonnet about Queen’s Park allowing women members. For some time he has been pushing for female members even before this was an issue with the World Cup. I wonder how Kingston Cricket Club will fare if that club’s membership rules against this again. Every statement he had made seemed to indicate that female membership is the most important stipulation of the ICC, then it seemed to be the advertising around the ground. If I am not mistaken these boards were commandeered by the WICB years ago therefore QPCC does not own them, the WICB does. If I am rights then why has Mr Rodriguez not been informed?
Every other territory’s delegates talk of ground preparedness but all we get are the negatives — do not discriminate against women, no advertising around the ground. This seems to be a domestic matter. Can he tell the public the positives about what QPCC are doing to get the ground ready for the World Cup? Mr Lequay on the other hand seems to have ruled out the Oval as a venue completely as he spoke of developing the ground in Couva and a new stadium to be built in Tobago. It seems strange that the ICC has ruled against members’ rights to free admission to the matches and in the same breath say that clubs must have women members. Is it that the ICC and TTCB are not being totally clear and Mr Rodriguez is getting the wrong messages???
