99 motorists charged with traffic offences

99 motorists were issued with tickets during an islandwide exercise carried out last Friday by traffic officers. Forty two persons were held for speeding while others were charged with illegal use of the bus route, driving with defective tyres and other offences. At Mt Lambert, a man who snatched a pair of bracelets from a woman and boarded a maxi-taxi in an attempt to escape was nabbed by officers on the exercise. The pair of bracelets was recovered. The exercise was coordinated by ACPs Nazamul Hosein and Glen Roach.
It was led by ASP Maharaj and Jemmot.
