Woman collapses and dies in maxi
A 46-year-old woman died while she was being transferred from a maxi-taxi in which she was travelling, to a police vehicle, to be taken to a hospital.
According to police reports, the woman Rosalind Bocaud of Enterprise, Chaguanas was travelling in a maxi-taxi along the Churchill Roosevelt Highway when she complained of feeling unwell. Passengers on board the maxi-taxi indicated to the driver that a woman was ill and needed to be taken to hospital. The driver of the maxi-taxi managed to gain the attention of a police vehicle that was passing nearby. On reaching the El Socorro intersection, the driver, with the assistance of the other passengers, attempted to put the woman into the police car so she could be taken to hospital. However, before they put the woman into the vehicle, she collapsed and died near the side of the road. The EHS, whom passengers had also called, arrived shortly after the woman died.
Sources revealed that Bocaud had gone to the doctor last Friday and was diagnosed with a ruptured hernia. She was given a letter to go to the Port-of-Spain General Hospital which was where she was heading yesterday when she met her death. District Medical Officer Rudy Lee Chee Lip ordered the removal of the woman’s body which was taken to the Forensic Sciences Centre. Sgt Jordan of the Barataria police is continuing investigations.
