No police vehicle for Santa Flora since 2002

For over one  year the Santa Flora police station has been operating without a police vehicle.

This is according to one officer attached to the station. The policeman, ex-pressing disgust and frustration at the situation said his colleagues  also feel the same about the matter. The police officer added, “So many times we are tipped off on drugs being transported and other matters where people are calling for  help, but we cannot respond.” The last time the station had a vehicle of their own, the police officer continued, was for the Point Fortin Borough Day celebrations last year. He added that the vehicles which aid the station’s officers in their duties are from the E-999 Division, the Siparia or Erin police stations. However the officer admitted, “they cannot always help us.” This,  the officer said, hurts the morale and willingness of the policemen who nonetheless continue to carry out their duties to the best of their ability. He  said, “The authorities say that  we have to fight the  criminal elements but  to totally   achieve this we  have to be well equipped.” He said that for quite  some time the police officers based at the station have been addressing the situation with senior officers  from the South Western Division  but they are yet to see any positive changes.
