MAN IN COURT FOR WIFE’S STABBING

A 41-year-old man will appear before a Sangre Grande magistrate today charged with the murder of his wife Georgiana Sookhoo. A post-mortem conducted on the body of the woman revealed that she died as a result of multiple stab wounds.

Sookhoo was attacked at her home during the early hours of Friday morning by a man with whom she had an ongoing altercation. The man is said to have chopped her about the body before escaping on foot. Sookhoo was rushed to the Sangre Grande District hospital, and was later transferred to the Port-of-Spain General Hospital, where she died undergoing emergency surgery. The murder charge was laid by Cpl Neville Sankar of the Sangre Grande CID.
