No bail for man on sex charge

A 29-YEAR-OLD Tableland man appeared in court yesterday charged with having sex with a 13-year-old girl, which is alleged to have occurred over a period of one year.

The accused was brought before Magistrate Jai Narine in the Princes Town Magistrates’ Court, charged with several counts of having sex with a minor. According to police, on Saturday, the girl and her father visited the Princes Town Police Station and made a report against the 29-year-old man, after she admitted to having a sexual relationship with him. Police went in search of the accused and arrested him later that day. Yesterday the accused was denied bail and will reappear in court on Wednesday.
