You don’t hear lawyers complaining about crime
THE EDITOR: Your article probably won’t be given the seriousness it deserves from your readers but I think I got your message and wish to make this comment. The Police Service in Trinidad and Tobago is an organisation that offers a moderate degree of protection to our society. Young men and women join to protect themselves and earn some money at the same time. I have neither seen nor read of any level of professionalism in this service, to expect or demand quality work from them is as much waste as your tax dollars in paying them in the first place. To put it all in a nutshell the workers’ behaviour in any organisation reflects the attitude of their leaders; what is the attitude of their leaders? Crime is money; and that is not confined to the criminals; there is a multitude of businesses derived from pretending to address the problem and so it is in the best interest of these businesses to keep a high level of criminal activity in Trinidad and Tobago. Have you ever heard of any lawyers complaining about the level of this activity, there is money to be made so why stop the business from booming.
