Words of advice for Mr Manning

THE EDITOR: It was not long ago when on your reflection as to why the PNM had lost the elections you stated that you realised the reason from your walk-abouts. And that was that people were neglected. Is that the same thing you are doing now? Of what benefit is the removing of the Red House etc to the man in the street? Likewise UTC etc? Stop clutching at wild straws. Sit with your Ministers and plan. Do not be haughty. Your popularity is slipping, because the same grassroot people who have supported you are not reaping any benefits. Simple things as impassable roads, water and crime need attention.

There are people who cannot visit their mothers in Laventille. Fear. Mr Manning and Mr Chin Lee, go incognito into Laventille and experience for yourselves. Solution — Stop URP, stop NHA — redress these. Set up temporary Police Posts (Computerise the area where these posts are, with monitors etc to track the movements of criminals). Areas such as St Barbs, Beverly Hills, Gonzales, Morvant, Laventille Road, San Juan and all those little holes in Laventille. Please Mr Manning, dialogue with all your Ministers and not with just a chosen few. Those who have voted for you are being wilfully left out. Please do not weaken. To those who come with a golden stick remember who were supporting you when the party was in the doldrums. Don’t ever forget.
