Pt Fortin teen on murder charge

A 16-YEAR-OLD student of Point Fortin Government Vocational Centre yesterday appeared before a Pt Fortin magistrate charged for the murder of a  53-year-old businessman. A tall, slim-built Taurrain Lamotte appeared before Magistrate Rae Roopchand charged with the murder of businessman Dalip Ram-bharose. It is alleged that around 8 pm on May 2, the accused, along with a yet-to-be captured accomplice, attempted to rob the deceased and his wife Dolly Rambharose, outside their businessplace at Sobo Circular Road, Sobo Village, La Brea. During the attempted robbery, Dalip was chopped about his body and was later hospitalised.

On May 15, he was discharged from hospital, but two days later, he died. An autopsy carried out on the body, revealed that Rambharose’s death was unnatural. Sgt Jimmy Palloo, Cpl Monsegue and PC Alvin Richardson of the Point Fortin CID conducted investigations. Lamotte was arrested last Sunday at his Cassava Alley, La Brea home. On Wednesday, Director of Public Prosecutions Geoffrey Henderson gave instructions for a charge of murder to be laid against the teen. As he appeared in court yesterday, Lamotte was accompanied by his parents. The matter was adjourned to November 7 and Lamotte was remanded to the Youth Training Centre, Golden Grove, Arouca.
