Search for man who threatened to kill wife

A MANHUNT has been launched for a man who threatened to shoot dead his wife and their three children, after he severely beat the woman with a length of  iron and slashed his son with a broken bottle on Tuesday evening. The woman, who is said to be in her late 30’s, has since been warded in stable condition at San Fernando General Hospital. Police reports stated that around 6.30 pm on Tuesday, the 37-year-old man walked into the Fyzabad Police Station and reported that his wife had threatened to kill him. He then left.

Ten minutes later, the woman, who was bleeding from a wound under her eye and her 11-year-old son, who was cut on his right foot, walked into the same police station where the woman reported that her husband had beaten her about her head with a piece of iron and slashed their son. Police sources said the woman’s face bore several bruises, her head was swollen and her left hand had been cut. She told police that she and her common-law-husband had an argument which escalated into violence and she was beaten. She said her 11-year-old son was slashed on his foot with a broken bottle during the altercation. The woman also claimed that her husband left their home to a buy a gun after threatening to shoot her and their three children, aged nine, 11 and 15. Up to late yesterday the man was still at large and Fyzabad police are investigating.
