Much more to be done besides highway
THE EDITOR: Our Councils would like you to publish the following. We wish to inform the public of Trinidad and Tobago that we are appointed PRO of the North Coast by a Ministry for one day, since the Ministry of Public Information or the Ministry of Works and Transport has not informed the National Community that the building of the Eco-Highway for Blanchisseuse to Matelot has already begun. Approximately three and a half miles by twenty feet wide east of the Spring Bridge in Blanchisseuse have been cut. This is without the input of the Ministry of Planning, Ministry of Works or the Environment Management Authority.
Our dear citizens and the Regional Councils had objected to the Highway in 1998 and are doing so again in 2003. There is much to be done besides building a Highway. We would like citizens visiting Blanchisseuse to use the Arima-Blanchisseuse Road and experience the deplorable state of the road. Who cares? This road is for poor people and the Eco-Highway is intended for the ‘big boys’ who have already grabbed up the seafront. It is only in mid 2006 that the Government will pretend to hear our cries.
