$49,000 robbery, Hollywood style

SECURITY officer Ryan Gobin of Safeguard Security Limited nearly collapsed with fear when he confronted two bandits who had just robbed the manager of Caribbean Cinemas, Trincity, and they responded by asking him, “Is this your money?” and ordering him to get out the way or face the consequences. $49,000 was the day’s sales of the movie complex that was taken from manager Bagyon Deen George of  Cunupia.

According to reports, Gobin was approaching the doors of the Cineplex when two armed men burst out with a duffel bag. Not aware of what had transpired minutes before, the security officer confronted the men but was warned before he had chance to draw his firearm. Entering the cineplex as the men ran off, Gobin found George and three of his employees bound and gagged on the floor. The four were released and George reported he was just about to close the office around 9.30 pm when the two men barged into the office and ordered him to open the vault with his keys. The men then tied up the four employees and emptied the vault before getting away. They ran off in the direction of a nearby housing scheme. Police were alerted and responded immediately and conducted an unsuccessful search of the area. WPC Mitchell of the Arouca police is conducting enquiries.
