Card game ends in chopping

A 39-YEAR-OLD man was chopped on his head during a dispute with a security guard during a game of cards at a “wake” on Sunday night.

Horace Achong, 39, of Circular Road, Sixth Company, New Grant, remains in serious condition at Ward Eight of the San Fernando General Hospital. Police have since detained the 41-year-old security guard, who is expected to be charged with wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm. According to police reports, around 9 pm, Achong was at the wake near his home when he and the man got involved in a heated argument following a card game. The enraged security guard, who lives at Naparima/Mayaro Road, left the wake and returned sometime later with a cutlass. Achong was attacked and chopped on the left side of his head, causing him to slump to the ground, with blood gushing from a large chop wound. Cpl Charles and PC Skelly, both of Princes Town Police Station visited the scene and are continuing investigations.
