St Lucien Road repaired
THREE weeks after Works and Transport Minister Franklyn Khan declared as “inadequate,” the resurfacing work done on St Lucien Road, Diego Martin, by a contractor who had dug up the road to lay sewer pipes, workers of Coosals Construction Ltd yesterday repaved the road. The work which was supervised by the construction company’s owner, Siewnarine Persad Coosal, saw a group of workers arriving at 7 am and using state-of-the-art equipment to pave the bumpy road. Officers from the Highway Patrol aided by West End police, regulated a slight traffic build-up along the Diego Martin Main Road, caused by the repaving work.
Coosals was awarded the contract by NIPDEC to carry out remedial work on St Lucien Road, after Khan publicly promised residents of the area to repair the road. Several residents telephoned Newsday to express their gratitude to Works Minister Franklyn Khan for taking up the issue and also to Coosals for the repaving work done yesterday. Newsday’s roving photographer was on hand yesterday and brought back these images.
