Thank the police

THE EDITOR: The Wednesday November 5, 2003 issue of your newspaper showed pictures of five persons charged for kidnapping and falsely imprisoning of Caroni female Shamshoon Mohammed on October 1, 2003.

The person by their name and pictures are of Indian origin, African origin and two appear to be mixed (dougla). They hail from Arouca, Caroni and Kelly Village. The kidnapping and arrest show that all the kidnappers were not of one race, at least one by his name appears to be of the same religion as the victim. When this kidnapping occurred the Caroni residents, the opposition and the country were all very upset and justifiably so. Scorn, derision and charges of incompetence were heaped on the police understandably. Now that the police have charged persons I expect that the mob who destroyed the old Government building would put it back in place. Moreover they should find some time to congratulate the police on their good work.
