Cellular site needed in Tamana
THE EDITOR: It is with deep concern I am writing this letter on behalf of the residents of the villages of Howsen, Coryal, Carmichael, Perseverance, Four Roads Tamana and Guaico Tamana about the absence of a cell site station in the area.
Ever since the emergence of cellular phones in Trinidad and Tobago in the year 1991 these agricultural villages in Tamana and surrounding areas have been trying to get TSTT to put up a station in one of the villages, but nothing has been done to give any form of assurance to the residents. Several people have made calls but their appeal have fallen on deaf ears. It is unfortunate that the residents of these villages have to resort to writing to the press in the hope of getting some sort of relief. The residents of these villages are fed up of waiting on TSTT. It is an embarrassment to the community and an impediment to the advancement in the quality of living for the residents of Tamana.
We are being deprived of what is becoming a basic necessity in modern times where technology is so prevalent. It is unfair for TSTT to be providing a service to the general public of Trinidad and Tobago and omitting areas that are in need of it. We cannot use our mobile cellular phones to get calls outside because there is no station to transmit our message after paying so much money to purchase our cellular phones. To solve this problem we are appealing to TSTT to build a cell site station in any one of the villages centrally located that is mentioned above to enable us to have access to our cellular phones from our homes.
