Republic directors for Banco Mercantil

Republic Bank recently announced the new Board of Directors of Banco Mercantil, Dominican Republic, following the acquisition of 94.1 percent of Banco Mercantil by Republic Bank.

The new Board was formally introduced to Government and Central Bank officials as well as the members of the Diplomatic Corps at Hotel Melia, Santo Domingo in early October at a cocktail reception to commemorate the acquisition. The new Board is now headed by Chairman Gonzalo Valdes-Fauli retired Vice Chairman of Barclays Bank of Latin America with international experience in the financial sector. Other directors are Ronald Huggins — President of Banco Mercantil, whose career as a banker spans 42 years, having worked in Trinidad, the Eastern Caribbean and the Cayman Islands; Ronald Harford — Chairman and Managing Director of Republic Bank with more than 41 years of banking experience; David Dulal-Whiteway — Deputy Managing Director of Republic with close to 20 years experience in the banking sector and William Aguiton whose career with Hilton International spanned over 37 years.
