From Caesar to Caesar

THE EDITOR: The application for an interim injunction which was recently granted by High Court Judge Mark Mohammed to UNIPET against the Ministry of Energy appears to be the right decision, based on the grounds on which the order was made. The action taken by the Ministry places National Petroleum at an advantage and goes contrary to the principles of equity, fairplay and justice, as both National Petroleum and UNIPET operate under the same terms and conditions of a wholesale marketing license.

Yet NP is given preferential treatment by the State which owns the State Oil Company, a clear case of “Caesar to Caesar” which renders the whole situation despicable. The Prime Minister who was once a Minister of Energy would never have contemplated such a move in my opinion and ought to investigate this matter to avoid occurrences of this nature in the future.
