Taxi-drivers robbed of cars

TWO taxi-drivers, one of whom is a policeman’s father, were robbed of their cars by gunmen in separate incidents between Thursday night and Friday morning. In the first incident, Rajkumar Pajoo, 48, the father of PC Pajoo attached to the Penal Police Station, reported that around 8.15 pm on Thursday night, he picked up four men at KFC in Penal. The passengers requested to be taken to Siparia. Upon reaching Reyes Trace, Siparia, one of the passengers pointed a gun at Pajoo and ordered him out of the car.

The men robbed him of $300 and drove off. In the other incident, around 3.30 am Friday, Shaheed Mohammed, 45, of Point Fortin, was plying his car for hire when he picked up two men at Dow Village, South Oropouche, who asked to be taken to San Fernando. On reaching St Mary’s Junction, one of the men pointed a gun to Mohammed’s head and ordered him to stop the car at the side of the road. The men robbed him of a small quantity of cash and sped off in his $50,000 black Toyota Royal Saloon car. Less than four hours later, around 7 am, police discovered Mohammed’s car at Grove Park, South Oropouche.  PC Boodlal and WPC Chance are investigating both incidents.
