New Miss City of San F’do crowned

WITH a radiant smile and a stylish gold coloured studded evening gown, 21-year-old Dawn Alves (Miss Bel Air/Gulf View) emerged triumphant from a field of eight beauties and was crowned the new Miss City of San Fernando Queen on Sunday night.

The pageant, which was one of a series of events to celebrate San Fernando City Week, was held on at San Fernando Town Hall Auditorium, before an appreciative crowd which included Prime Minister Patrick Manning, his wife Education Minister Hazel Manning, Gender Affairs Minister Joan Yuille-Williams, San Fernando (West) MP Diane Seukeran and San Fernando Mayor Ian Atherly. The contestants were judged in nightgown and talent categories and were also quizzed on historical facts relating to San Fernando. Copping third place was Miss Marabella, Abiola Mitchell, while Miss La Romaine was the runner-up to first place winner Dawn Alves. The event was coordinated by Simpli Smooth Pro-ductions. The awards ceremony will be held this Sunday at the Tree House Restaurant, St Joseph Village, San Fernando.
