Public sector workers still waiting for their 10 percent
THE EDITOR: The National Union of Government and Federated Workers (NUGFW) President Robert Giuseppi’s statement that only Parliament could decide when public sector workers would receive a ten percent deduction owed to them has not gone down well with those workers. I am a retired public sector worker and I think it is not enough for Giuseppi to simply say “It’s up to the politicians” and leave it at that. The public service got their ten percent, what about public sector workers? Are the public sector workers lost and forgotten both by the union (NUGFW) and government?
Remember this deduction was made in 1986 under the National Alliance for Reconstruction (NAR) administration. When the United National Congress (UNC) was in government, NUGFW met with then Finance Minister Gerald Yetming to supposedly discuss when the workers would get their monies. So therefore, I am appealing to NUGFW and government of to discuss when will the public sector workers receive their ten percent. It’s not in the budget and I do not think it will ever be. Still waiting. I am thanking you in anticipation for whenever this letter is published.
