Giuseppi, Cabrera return to lead NATUC
Robert Giuseppi and Vincent Cabrera have been returned unopposed as president and general secretary of the National Trade Union Centre (NATUC), respectively. NATUC is the umbrella body for trade unions in TT. The declarations were made following elections last weekend at the end of the business session of the fourth Biennial Convention. Approximately 100 delegates unanimously adopted the Audited Financial Reports for 2000, 2001 and 2002. Additionally, the convention also adopted a number of resolutions focusing on areas including the pursuance of activities to construct or purchase headquarters for NATUC, and calling on Government to move to assume full ownership of BWIA, and to involve the trade unions at BWIA in its operations.
The new executive will be in office for a period of two years. Elected officers to the various posts include:
