GANG-RAPE INSIDE CLUB

POLICE have launched a massive manhunt for eight men, who in the midst of a packed San Fernando night-club, gang-raped a Princes Town teenager during the early morning hours yesterday. So brutal was the attack, the traumatised 18-year-old victim remains warded at San Fernando General Hospital. Newsday understands the young woman accompanied her 21-year-old sister to the club’s “Free Drinks” lime, which is usually held every Wednesday. According to police reports, around 2 am while the young woman and her sister were dancing and liming in the club, a group of men grabbed the victim, pulling her away from her sister, who in the thick crowd of dancers was unaware of what was taking place. Reports stated that the men dragged the teenager into a room, where they took turns raping her.

The blaring music is said to have drowned out the teen’s screams, as the men assaulted her. Following the attack, the men ran out of the club, leaving the crying teenager alone in the room. The bleeding teen later raised an alarm and was taken to the San Fernando General Hospital where she was treated and warded. A report was made to the San Fernando police. The District Medical Officer (DMO) medically examined the teen victim and confirmed to investigators that she had been sexually assaulted. Up to late yesterday no arrests had been made and Head of Southern Division — Snr Supt Desmond Lambert — is leading a team of officers in the investigations.
