Community Protection Group against crime

THE EDITOR: Please permit me a space in your newspaper to highlight crime in our country. Being a member of the Hindu Credit Union, I am part owner of this organisation. The president Mr Harry Harinarine has taken the initiative to do something for the people in Trinidad and Tobago. HCU has set up the Community Protection Group (CPG). The HCU is on a mission and whatever we venture into, the end result is success. Areas like Chaguanas and Princes Town have become involved has started with the CPG. We have to ask ourselves why is crime so rampant in TT. The main factor is unemployment. HCU has donated $250,000 to the Community Protection Group. What CPG really needs now is more volunteers in prospective business areas around the country. The second phase of this programme is to set up the CPG eventually in villages and communities, so that citizens out there will be safer.  What people in Trinidad and Tobago need is motivation and I believe with a little motivation we can accomplish great things.
