Car thief shot in groin
A BANDIT who was shot in his groin during a failed robbery was held by police as he sought medical attention at the San Fernando General Hospital (SFGH).
Police reports said a second man ran out from the medical institution before the cops arrived and escaped, while a third man was held near the scene of the robbery attempt. Reports indicate that around midnight Friday, a customer at Horace’s Restaurant on Farrah Street, San Fernando, was emerging from the businessplace when he saw three men trying to break into his car. In retaliation the patron whipped out his revolver, took aim at the bandits, and fired several shots. The three robbers scurried off, even though two of them had suffered gunshot wounds.
Patrolling E-999 police caught up with one of the robbers, a 22-year-old man of Cocoyea Village, who was making his escape through Suekeran Street, San Fernando. Meanwhile, some hours later, PC Don Gajadhar and others of the San Fernando CID received information that two men with gunshot wounds were seeking medical attention at SFGH. One suspect was detained and is currently warded under police guard, while police are searching for the other wounded suspect.
