Arabian delight at CIC

Trini Revellers hosted its annual brunch and display of costumes for their 2004 Carnival presentation, “The Arabian Nights,” on Sunday at St Mary’s College Centenary Hall, Port-of-Spain. Patrons marvelled at  how authentic some of the exotic Middle Eastern portrayals appeared. The costumes were designed by the young and talented Geraldo Vieira Jr.

Trini Revellers’ public relations officer and MC for the afternoon, Enrico Rajah,  predicted that the Band-of-the-Year (Large) title will change hands in 2004. Ten of the 12 sections were displayed live on Sunday, while Harvard’s all-inclusive costumes stood on mannequins in the hall. Entertainment at the semi-inclusive event was provided by Nueva Viva Parang Group, Playboyz and DJ Production Sounds. Four door prizes were given away on the day, leaving many happy faces in the crowd. A confident Vieira Jr has promised a spectacular presentation and a parade that will rival a similar presentation 40 years ago by Stephen Lee Heung. Here are some highlights of the event:
