Power blackout on Corridor
THE EDITOR: On Thursday evening a large part of the East West corridor was without electrical power for more than two hours. In itself that is cause for concern but what is more worrying is that it didn’t even warrant a mention in the next day’s newspapers. To add insult to injury our house guest, on her first visit back to Trinidad after 15 years abroad, remarked “I remember this. Its just like when I lived here”. So after 15 years our monopoly electricity supplier has not improved the quality of its service and we have become so accustomed to it we don’t even bother to remark upon the event.
Well ladies and gentlemen, lets kiss 2020 goodbye and stop fooling ourselves about becoming a developed nation. If we can’t get the basics right then let’s stop pretending we are doing well. The old saying “Treat a boy the way you want him to become” springs to mind. If we are serious about 2020 then we need to treat people as if we were living in 2020. That being the case the entire management team of TTEC should be asked to resign which is exactly what would be happening now if we lived in the developed world. But I forgot...we like it so.
