TSTT revs up mobile repair operations

TSTT is beefing up its after-sale support for mobile customers. With almost half of a million people using mobile handsets in Trinidad and Tobago the company has opened its third Mobile Repair Centre located in San Fernando. The company already operates Repair Centres in San Juan and Tobago. Engineer Nigel Dick, who heads the Repair Centre operations says that such support is important especially where TSTT has been designated as the official repair centre in Trinidad and Tobago for two of the world’s largest handset manufacturers, Nokia and Motorola.

Over $850,000 has been invested in outfitting the Repair Centre with sophisticated testing equipment and Nigel says cellular repair technicians at TSTT regularly attend training programmes by the manufacturers like Samsung, Nokia and Motorola. There are also instances when the manufacturers would send trainers to TSTT to instruct the technicians about new software for handsets and other developments in handset design. The TSTT Repair Centre primarily deals with handsets that are still under the manufacturer’s warranty and sold by TSTT or authorised dealers. However they also repair faulty handsets individuals bought elsewhere.
