Youths need a spiritual environment

THE EDITOR: Although a few of us are outstandingly outspoken about the dire need of obtaining spiritual upliftment, yet we grope gracelessly in the dark about the entity entitled “The Spirit” by some, and “The Soul” by others. The Spirit was donated by The Almighty to man, and not created from clay, as was his body. The Great Creator after forming man’s body from clay, utilised from the stupendous tore of His Everlasting Life, some of it to give life to His lifeless creation. Of this episode the Scripture records: “He blew into the nostrils, the ‘Breath of life’, and man became a living being.” (Gen Ch 2 Vs 6-7). Later on, from the living man, He created a living woman. God is Eternal, and the breath He gave to “wake up” man, had in consequence, an “everlasting nature.” While man’s body will crumble into dust, yet man’s spirit lives on. Thus, it is reasonable to conclude that the spirit holds “Pride of Place” in man’s existence, and must be given adequate attention.

Furthermore, we cannot fail to see that this life has been sustainably stretched in the sphere of the lives of human beings, from parent to offspring. Hence, all mankind is endowed with it, from which circumstance, no one can escape, whether for the enjoyment of Eternal Bliss, or for everlasting damnation, whichever he or she chooses. In the building of the impregnable wall of the blessed bastion of spirituality, we must use “Faith” as the cornerstone. We can acquire this virtue by sincerely believing in the spiritually supreme strength of the Almighty Creator, whose power is easily noticed in worldwide natural phenomena: in air, on land, and within the sea. Mankind has witnessed the boisterous peals of thunder, along with the awe-inspiring flashes of lightning, searing thunderbolts, and the terrific storms in the atmosphere, the furious fire and lamentable laval flow belching from the bowels of the earth, the destructive earthquakes, and the huge uncontrollable tidal waves wrecking devastation on coastal areas — all of which are at times forceful enough to make physically tough men, especially seamen on wind-driven sailing ships, openly cry and bend down on their knees appealing to the Great Almighty for mercy upon their souls. Scientists have been able to ascertain how these tribulations develop, but are powerless to humanly control them.

We have lingered too long to confirm convincingly our faith in God, and generally have recourse to it, only when deathly disasters strike. It is extremely important to begin by giving the young ones a suitable spiritual environment, also engaging them in activities within which the vital seed of Faith can be sown. Relevant talks, prayers, songs and books will assist. It is quite essential for mankind to pay more attention to the development of a sound spiritual attitude. When this is accomplished, God’s gift of everlasting “breath” given to the first man and thence to all others of mankind, will bear fruit, quite unlike the “forbidden” one in the Garden of Eden. The physical progresss of our young ones, from as far back as the cradle, is certainly important, but the youngsters’ spiritual development must on no account be allowed to lag behind, because in the final analysis, it eventually will be used to assist them to attain the ‘Eternal Bliss’ divinely prepared for all loyal believers, who in the course of time, like autumn leaves departing from deciduous trees in the advent of wintry weather, will leave the tree of their earthly existence and be borne off to Eternity with the Echoing Words of the Ever Faithful Almighty: “Welcome ye good and faithful followers, to the Magnificent Mansion I have prepared for you, as promised to you by your Redeemer, Jesus Christ.”
