IRO university will promote tolerance

THE EDITOR: It is my personal feeling that the Inter Religious Organisation (IRO) should be considering the construction of a university. This would certainly create and promote racial and religious tolerance within the Caribbean region. The IRO has ben ably led by the Reverend Cyril Paul, a man of vision and integrity, who I am sure can play a key and influential role in seeing that such an idea becomes a living reality. For the construction of this proposed university, the various religious bodies that comprise the IRO can embark on a variety of fundraising projects. Also, there may be “God-loving” citizens who may prepare themselves to pledge willingly, conscientiously and handsomely towards this educational entity of the kingdom of the most high.

The University of the IRO can be managed by experienced and qualified personnel of the religious denominational boards. One of the major functions of this tertiary institution should be to promote religious understanding, increase tolerance of all persons and develop skills for human interaction and service. The university of the IRO can ensure that tertiary standards of learning are elevated at all times. In this way our future human resources will be able to maintain the high standards that may be set by their predecessors. The University of the IRO must become a reality, so that there would be intelligence, innovations and new creations towards a brighter TT and Caribbean.
