National tennis starts Monday

THIS year’s  National Open Tennis Championships will begin on Monday December 1 with four men  singles matches at the Public Courts, Princes Building, Port of Spain.

Beginning at 4.15pm Peter Scott will take on Richard Chung, Khaleel Rajack plays Lendl Smith, Lewis Aasan matches up against Richard Rahamatula and Phillip Tompset plays Michael Pemberton. Ivor Grazette is the top seed in this competition and will be the man to beat when he takes the court. among the women Rene Branker is number one. Action in the women series begins on Wednesday, when Sarah Chautilal comes up against veteran Valerie Pedro-Harris and sister Farah Chautilal plays Sanian Lewis. Branker will be in action against Lee Ann  Lingo and number two Shenelle Mohammed faces Catherine Bolton. The second round  of matches feature Rodney Ross against eighth-ranked Kino Francis, Sean Khan faces Curtis Gonzales, Roderick Williams plays Simeon Sealy and number seven Robert Hikel meets Ray Goswami at the same venue.
