NATUC concerned over TSTT’s property

THE National Trade Union Centre (NATUC) has jumped into the fray involving TSTT and its workers, and the firebombing of a TSTT vehicle.

Robert Giuseppi, president of NATUC, said the National Labour body condemned what it calls  “behaviour on the part of any elements who may be attempting to influence the outcome of negotiations,” he added. “The negotiations should be left up to the trade union and the company. In this case, the relevant trade union is the Communication Workers’ Union. Giuseppi said NATUC was making the call because TSTT is State property, or property belonging to the people of Trinidad and Tobago. At the same time, Giuseppi said NATUC did not accept the management’s claim that the recent attacks against TSTT’s property was the work of competitors. “We call on the authorities to easure that both sides to the industrial dispute meet continuously, until an agreement is reached, so that workers can receive their retroactive payments in time for the Christmas holidays,” said Giuseppi.
