Eight-race ‘Friday Lime’ at Santa Rosa

EIGHT races will grab the attention of turfites at this year’s second “Friday Lime” staged by the Arima Race Club at Santa Rosa Park, Arima, on Friday.

This eight-race programme is scheduled to have a post time of 1.10 pm for the first event, the Northern Virginia Men Optional Claiming over 1750 metres. Feature of the day will be the Sneaker Pimps Allowance race over 1750 metres worth a total $28,000. Turfites will get an opportunity to see American-bred newcomer Le Fabuleux Dansur in action. This three-year-old will match strides with Punto A Punto, Dutchess Trembley, Kalyan, Canaima, Squee Zintru, Iciban, Golden Shufleur and Morgan Heritage. The two-year-olds will be back in action in the Good Luck sprint over 1200 metres, and Maniram “Boboy” Maharaj who had his stranglehold on the races for these “babes” broken on Saturday, have the speedy Mister Hypocrit entered and will be looking to pick up the winning thread again. There are 16 “babes” entered for this event including six first-timers to complicate matters for turfites.

A touch of rugby will be added to the lime, with members of the Trinidad Rugby enthusiasts along with visiting teams from Jamaica, Guyana, Martinique and British Virgin Islands, here for the annual Rugby 7s Tournament, who will be on hand to sign autographs. And Carib have planned live entertainment in the persons of Iwer George, Ninja, Sherwin Winchester, Atlantic and the Carib Girls. There will be Lucky Losers prizes of Carib hampers and T-shirts, and bake and shark and doubles will be on sale. Meanwhile, trainers were taking things very easy with their charges as they prepare for Friday’s programme. Best gallop yesterday came from two-year-old Second Chances who stepped 600 metres in 35.2 seconds, while the older Mutola covered the same trip in 36.2.
